Sandstone Trail Challenge

The Joe Beswick Sandstone Trail Challenge on 10 May 2026 is a point-to-point journey from Whitchurch to Frodsham in England’s North West.

The 2026 event sees some course changes – The start line in Whitchurch will now be at the Lockside Cafe, Grindley Brook. This shortens the race by approximately 2 miles to 32 miles (instead of 34).

The course takes runners through ancient woodland, across open ridgelines, near historic castles and big-sky Cheshire plains beauty. Terrain is a mix of canals, forest tracks, fields and bridlepaths.

The route follows a way-marked trail but some self-navigation is required. Entrants should have some knowledge of a compass and map. There is a 10 hour cut off.

The event is organised by Helsby Running Club.
